Our Story

The history of our cidery draws on founder David Urffer’s Pennsylvania Dutch roots. The house and barn that now house the cidery once functioned as a dairy farm, and it belonged to David’s grandparents - Pappy and Grammy.
When the grandkids came to visit, Pappy and Grammy would call them snicklefritz, which means “mischievous child” in Pennsylvania Dutch. So when David traveled to Wales, he got into hard cider, tasting it and learning about the process. He came home and hit the ground running, doing the research to use Pappy’s Orchard apples in his very own ciders. And the name Snicklefritz was the perfect fit!

At Snicklefritz, we’re all about showing you where your drinks come from. We’re a small local business, and we grow most of the apples we use! There’s so much more to cider than what you might think - so join us and find out about the hard work and pure ingredients that go into it.
